Happy National Science Day!
Today, on February 28, we celebrate National Science Day, honouring Nobel Prize winner Sir C. V. Raman, who discovered the Raman Effect. On this occasion, we announce the successful completion of our inaugural Innovative AI Challenge 2024!
This year's National Science Day theme—"Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat"—aligns perfectly with our AI challenge, which was launched to encourage creative, critical thinking and innovation among students.
Innovative AI Challenge
Launched on December 1, the challenge ran for nearly 45 days until the submission deadline. Students and professionals took part in awesome numbers to tackle one of the two problem statements:
To predict and enhance agricultural productivity
Create a chatbot that emulates human emotions
Participants worked tirelessly for weeks on their solutions, submitting numerous entries. They applied various advanced machine learning algorithms like Random Forest, Decision Trees, and XGBoost, to name a few.
Some participants also employed transformers and generative AI to make an emotion-emulating chatbot helpful in elderly support.
Beyond just building models, participants went a step further, successfully demonstrating their solutions through web applications and YouTube videos. The level of engagement and dedication was truly remarkable—91 teams competed, showcasing their problem-solving skills and technical expertise in AI and ML.
Winners
Submissions were then analysed for weeks based on the following criteria:
✔ Creativity & Innovation
✔ Practicality of the Solution
✔ Quality of Code, Documentation, Website, and Video Demonstration
After weeks of thorough assessment, winners were selected in three categories:
🏆 Best Creative & Innovative Solutions – ₹4,000 each (3 winners)
🥇 Best Solutions – ₹1,000 each (5 winners)
🥈 Next Best Solutions – ₹500 each (6 winners)
We are thrilled to announce that prize amounts have been successfully transferred to the winners’ verified UPI IDs on the occasion of National Science Day! 🎉
A Message to Innovators
We call everyone who took part in the challenge "Innovators". We got to learn and share many experiences by connecting with the participants through LinkedIn and Kaggle.
As we mark this special day, we celebrate this year's theme by giving a chance to participants to work on problems and provide solutions through rapidly progressing technologies like AI and Machine Learning.
